There’s a new tipi on campus, a place for teaching, learning and community-gathering. On Friday, June 17, Nipissing will host a small celebration at the new tipi to mark National Aboriginal Day, including a cultural teaching shared by Cindy Hare followed by tea and bannock for everyone.

Dr. Cindy Peltier brings a passion for community health, teaching and learning and a strong connection to Nipissing University to her new role as the university’s Chair of Indigenous Education.

It’s a week of celebration, the beginning of a new chapter in life for graduates and a time to look back fondly on friends made, goals achieved lessons learned and amazing experiences enjoyed both in and out of the classroom.

Nipissing University’s Board of Governors approved the 2016-17 operating budget at their regular meeting on June 2. The university is projecting revenues of $66,567,837 and expenses of $71,279,170, resulting in a projected deficit of $4,711,333.
