Meet student leader Marianne Vander Dussen
Nipissing students consistently impress as leaders, in the classroom, on campus and in the community. Recently the university celebrated 25 student leaders at the annual Dave Marshall Leadership Awards. Over the coming months, NU News will introduce each student leader to the wider community with a short article discussing their accomplishments and activities. Today, we are pleased profile Marianne Vander Dussen, a Masters of Education student and Dave Marshall Leadership Award winner in the academic category.
Vander Dussen is an exceptional student, researcher, mentor and leader. She has acted as a volunteer teaching assistant, guest lecturer in multiple classes, and has been a mentor for teacher candidates for the last three years.
Vander Dussen mentors teacher candidates who are experiencing difficulties in their practicum placements. The guidance she provides them is exemplary and very much appreciated by those she works with.
Her thesis research entitledNarrative Pathways to Character, Empathy and Belonging, is exceptional and has been well received by our teacher candidates.
The Dave Marshall Leadership Award recognizes full-time students who have made an outstanding extra-curricular contribution to their academic program, to the campus, or to the greater community. Academic recipients are selected in recognition of their significant contributions as leaders in their area of study.
