Nipissing Mourns Loss of Student in Tragic Accident

The University was shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Jaidyn Phillis on December 17, 2019 in Parry Sound, Ontario as a result of a motor vehicle accident.  Jaidyn was a second year student in the Bachelor of Social Work program on the North Bay campus.

Our heartfelt thoughts go out to the student’s family and loved ones, to whom we offer our sincerest condolences. We also grieve with those closest to Jaidyn and her family, including roommates, friends, classmates, professors and all those who came to know her at Nipissing.

We are devastated to lose a student, a part of the Nipissing community. This loss will be felt by the community for quite some time.  Particularly in a time of grief and loss, we encourage members of our community to reach out to one another with care and concern, and to use the university resources outlined below. As we move through this difficult time together, Nipissing remains committed to supporting its students, staff and faculty.
