Nipissing professor receives $1.47 million in federal funding for climate change research

Dr. Colin McCarter, Assistant Professor at Nipissing University and Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Climate and Environmental Change, has been awarded an Alliance Missions Grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) valued at $1,466,449 to further his team.

Nipissing University unveils state of the art simulation centre

Today, Nipissing University celebrated the opening of the George and Helen Vari Simulation Centre, an immersive and interactive learning environment designed to replicate a variety of real-life situations and procedures for students and professionals from various disciplines, including nursing, social work, and criminal justice.

Rebecca Misiasz takes top spot in Three Minute Thesis Competition

Nipissing’s talented and knowledgeable group of researchers extends beyond its faculty members to include both undergraduate and graduate students. On Tuesday, March 26, Nipissing highlighted the prowess of its graduate students at its annual Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT®) in the Nipissing Theatre. This University-wide event challenges graduate students to present their research to a panel of non-specialist judges in an engaging, compelling way, in under three minutes.

Major grant awarded for evaluation of Rare Dementia Support programs

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Aging, in partnership with the Institute of Health Services and Policy Research and the Azrieli Foundation and its Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence (CCCE), has announced a significant grant to support a Nipissing University-led project titled "A Realist Evaluation of Rare Dementia Support: Peoples, Spaces and Places."

Nipissing raises over $600,000 for Student Support Fund

Nipissing University hosted its inaugural fundraising gala, An Evening at Nipissing: Together for Students, last week benefitting the Student Support Fund. The sold-out event, held at the R.J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre, marked the culmination of an eight-month fundraising campaign for the Student Support Fund, resulting in over $600,000 for the cause.

Scott Russell named new Chancellor of Nipissing University

Nipissing University has appointed Dr. Scott Russell as its fifth Chancellor. The award-winning broadcaster and acclaimed author, best known for his hosting roles with CBC Sports and extensive Olympic Games coverage, will begin his four-year term on July 1, 2024.  

Nipissing University's nursing grads shine in recent exam results

Nipissing University has once again demonstrated the exceptional quality of its Nursing program, as evidenced by the latest report from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). The 2023 Nursing Registration Exams Report reveals that Nipissing's graduates have achieved impressive results, including a pass rate of 94.2%, underscoring the university’s commitment to excellence in nursing education.
