Changing the conversation on death
Students and faculty at Nipissing are trying to change the conversation about death and dying.
Dr. Susan Srigley, professor and chair of Religions & Cultures at Nipissing University, along with four students from across disciplines in Arts & Science will be presenting at the virtual International Death Festival called "Lifting the Lid" on Friday, November 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (EST).
Their conversation will focus on the importance of #deatheducation and why we need it in the postsecondary sector. Each student will talk about how death education has impacted their lives, their university studies and their future careers.
Professor Srigley's Instagram account @death.ambassadors chronicles her death teaching, students and courses. Her students are called #deathambassadors because they are changing the conversation about death in our culture.
