NU welcoming new students for orientation sessions
Incoming students attending Nipissing University in the fall are getting the jump on their studies next week as the university hosts New Student Orientation (NSO). NSO is a one-day orientation program for all new students and their supporters, designed to introduce the services and programs available to support student success, and build connections to the Lakers community. Nipissing expects to welcome about 700 people to North Bay for NSO, including more than 350 high school graduates, mature students and transfer students with their families and friends. NSO begins on Monday, July 9, and continues all week to Friday, July 13. It runs from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. each day. It provides incoming students the chance to discover essential information about Nipissing. Students will have the opportunity to meet with their future professors and discuss the academic expectations and requirements unique to their program and Nipissing University. Each NSO participant will also be provided time to talk to current students about the transition to university to help prepare for classes in September. As well, students and their families receive a tour of the campus, including the residences, and learn about the support services, resources, educational and extra-curricular opportunities available to them as Nipissing students. Each NSO day also includes student and parent sessions in which current students and university administrators answer questions about Nipissing University, North Bay and first-year experiences and expectations.
