Students present Oedipus Rex
Students in Nipissing’s second-year English course, Theatre Production, are staging a production of the classic Sophocles play, Oedipus Rex, Tuesday, April 4, and Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the Nipissing Theatre (F213).The play is an example of how ancient culture is still shockingly relevant, as it tells the story of a king who falls to an expected enemy. A play of mystery, riddles, violence, incest and deep truths about the human condition, Oedipus Rex has inspired millennia of authors, philosophers and other playwrights. These performances are the culmination of a year's worth of hard work by theatre students and promise to entertain, challenge and engage.
Tickets cost $5 and are available at the door. Patrons are advised that seating is limited.
