Pop up art gallery ‘talks back’ to sexual violence

Sexual Assault: The Road Show is coming to campus October 16–22, featuring a revolutionary pop-up art gallery contained in a shipping container. The art contained in The Road Show ‘talks back’ to sexual violence. The gallery will be open daily from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm with opportunities to engage and 'talk back' through art.

The Roadshow aims to create new narratives in an artistic language that will disrupt, challenge and subvert legal, media and state practice about sexual violence. The Roadshow container serves as meeting, workshop and public exhibition space as it travels all over the province. There are opportunities throughout the week for visitors to create their own art to be featured as part of the Roadshow’s ongoing travelling exhibitions. Hosted jointly on campus by Nipissing University and Canadore College, the Roadshow will be parked outside, between the Library and the Athletics Center. Nipissing University would like to recognize Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Center as the coordinators of The Roadshow’s visit to North Bay. On Friday, local artist, and Nipissing University Fine arts graduate, Meg Lozicki Paulin will be facilitating a workshop at the Roadshow from 11:45am–2pm. The workshop will provide the opportunity for people to ‘talk back’ to sexual violence. Art generated will be on display for the Roadshow’s final exhibition in North Bay at City Hall from October 23 – 29, and may be chosen to travel to the Roadshow’s next stop.
