Education faculty and students develop resources for new book - Innovation Nation

The Right Honourable David Johnston, Rideau Hall Foundation Chair, and Tom Jenkins, Chair of OpenText Corporation, and Honorary Degree recipient from Nipissing University, recently launched a new book, Innovation Nation.

This young readers’ edition of the original bookIngenious: How Canadian Innovators Made the World Smarter, Smaller, Kinder, Safer, Healthier, Wealthier, and Happier (2017) focuses on 50 Canadian innovations that made an impact on the world. This adaptation offers young Canadians a way to celebrate history and to be inspired as future innovators. All proceeds fromInnovation Nation andIngenious will be directed to the Rideau Hall Foundation (RHF) for activities that support Canadian innovation. Nipissing faculty members, Dr. Maria Cantalini-Williams, Dr. Glenda Black, Dr. Daniel Jarvis, and Jenny Guibert, have worked with students and teachers, RHF and other national partners, to develop Kindergarten to Grade 12 Education for Innovation resources to accompany the books Innovation Nation and Ingenious. These bilingual, free resources align with K-12 learning goals across Canada and are now available at InnovationCulture.ca. The Education for Innovation resources strive to cultivate innovation mindsets and skills that can be applied across a variety of subjects (e.g., science, technology, mathematics, the arts, literacy, health and physical education, social sciences) and in various learning environments.
