Seminar Series looks at historic sites and national identity

The latest instalment of Nipissing’s History Seminar Series takes place this Friday, February 5, at 2:30 p.m. in Room A252, featuring Professor Rhiannon Don of English Studies. She will present a lecture, titled Staging the Nation: Historic Sites, Interpretation, and National Identity. Using a variety of sources, Professor Don examines the way that the historical park at Sainte-Marie-among-the-Hurons, near Midland, Ontario, presents its history. In the process she questions whose Canada is being performed, and how, in such a staging of the historical past.
The lecture is free of charge, all are welcome, and coffee and tea will be provided.
