Meet student leader Jasmine Taulu
Nipissing students consistently impress as leaders in the classroom, on campus and in the community. Recently the university celebrated 25 student leaders at the annual Dave Marshall Leadership Awards. Over the coming months, NU News will introduce each student leader to the wider community with a short article discussing their accomplishments and activities. Today, we are pleased profile Jasmine Taulu a fourth-year Bachelor of Science, honours, Environment and Physical Geography student and Dave Marshall Leadership Award winner in the academic category.
Taulu has been a volunteer, a research assistant, and now an honours thesis student with Nipissing University’s Integrative Watershed Research Centre. She has contributed to several community-based research projects in partnership with the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority.
Her research on the Chippewa Creek watershed has helped us to understand the quality and movement of our local watersheds and how we can manage our watersheds for long-term sustainability. Through this research, Taulu has proven to have a big local impact.
The Dave Marshall Leadership Award recognizes full-time students who have made an outstanding extra-curricular contribution to their academic program, to the campus, or to the greater community. Academic recipients are selected in recognition of their significant contributions as leaders in their area of study.
