Archival action - looking back to 1992 and the birth of NU

As we celebrate Nipissing’s 25th anniversary this year, it’s a fantastic time to look back at the university’s history and some of the events that helped shape the modern day Nipissing.Today, we are pleased to present this video from 1992, courtesy of NU’s archives. It features the readings of Bill PR 70, an act respecting Nipissing University, in the Ontario Legislature by Sudbury MPP Sharon Murdock, as well as Mike Harris, then MPP for Nipissing, discussing “what is a very historic step forward for Northern education.”
This is the act that granted Nipissing University its charter as an independent degree granting institution. Not to spoil the ending, but the bill passes.
