Second annual Anne Clendinning Memorial Lecture

Nipissing University's Department of History presents the second annual Anne Clendinning Memorial Lecture, titled John Anderson: Canada’s Last Fugitive Slave Case and a Crisis in U.S.-Canadian Diplomacy, on Wednesday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Small Weaver Auditorium.The lecture will be lead by Dr. Paul Finkelman, Ariel F. Sallows visiting professor of Human Rights Law at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law and Senior Fellow at the Penn Program on Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Finkelman also serves on the Scholars Advisory Panel of the National Constitution Center.
The Department of History established the Anne Clendinning Memorial Lecture in 2015 to celebrate and honour their outstanding colleague, teacher, and scholar of Victorian Britain,Dr. Anne Clendinning, who died in 2014. Dr. Clendinning was an assistant professor of history at Nipissing for 12 years and is remembered as a passionate historian that thrived on working through complex ideas and watching young scholars minds open up in different ways.
