Fourth-year biology and chemistry students at Nipissing University wowed the audience with their research knowledge at the sixth annual Biology and Chemistry Poster Event. Thesis students presented their poster projects, the culmination of a year of planning and conducting original and independent research on April 28.The students presented their work to professors and the public during the evening event. There were 13 students presenting, representing a breadth of research interests spanning animal behaviour, genetics, forestry, plant physiology, cell imaging, the chemistry of mining and water quality concerns.
“Nipissing students have a terrific opportunity to perform original research with the guidance of a faculty supervisor, and there is some incredible work being done,” said Dr. Jeffery Dech, associate professor of Biology. “Many of these students will continue creating knowledge by conducting research while pursuing a graduate degree. The Poster Event helps students build confidence and presentation skills that will serve them well in whatever path they may choose in life.
Congratulations to the students for the fine research depicted in their posters and many thanks to everyone involved for their contributions.”
