Dr. Page appointed to prestigious award committee
Congratulations to Dr. Aroha Page, associate professor of Nursing, who has been appointed to serve on the Canada Infoway/CASN National Inaugural Faculty Interprofessional eHealth Award Selection Committee. The Selection Committee for the Faculty Interprofessional eHealth Award is comprised of members from Infoway’s Clinicians-in-Training Joint Collaborative along with previous Faculty eHealth Award winners.
“I was approached to be a member for this important inaugural panel adjudicating many submissions from teams across the country's universities in recognition of my expertise,” said Dr. Page. “It’s exciting to be a part of this history-making IPE recognition, and I’m proud to be representing Nipissing University and our School of Nursing.”
Earlier this year CASN selected Dr. Page to be an eHealth Peer Leader to provide feedback on the development of a consumer health resources for nursing faculty and assist in creation of an eHealth Peer Network for Nursing Faculty to allow for mentoring from schools across Canada. She has also been appointed CASN-Infoway eHealth Peer Leaders Task Force Operational Committee.
Canada Health Infoway created the inaugural 2015 Faculty Interprofessional eHealth Award in partnership with the Association of Faculty of Medicine of Canada (AFMC), the Association of Faculty of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC) and the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) as a component of the “Next Generation - Clinicians in Training” initiative, aimed at enabling faculty to embrace a culture of change and transform how they educate students.
The 2015 Faculty Interprofessional eHealth Award is team-based with recipients from Canadian schools of nursing, medicine and pharmacy. This prestigious award includes national recognition and financial support for the successful team who demonstrates their leadership and commitment to educating students to provide care in a collaborative, interprofessional, patient-centered and technology-enabled environment.
The successful team will receive $5,000 and will be awarded at Infoway’s 2015 Peer Leader Symposium as well as at the Clinicians in Training partners’ Annual General Meetings (AGMs).
“This process has really given great insight on how eHealth/Informatics is valued in the all the universities and various disciplines,” says Dr. Page. “All of the applications were of very high standard.”
