CIC talk on education going global TONIGHT

The Nipissing Branch of the Canadian International Council (CIC) welcomesBernard Simon, global journalism fellow at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs, to Nipissing’s North Bay campus on Wednesday, April 1, for an important presentation examining the issues related to international education.
TitledEducation Goes Global: Big Profits, Big Risks, and a New Tool of Diplomacy, Simon will draw on his background in publishing and journalism, and will reflect on the current challenges in international education, looking at issues at the macro-level all the way to the nuts and bolts of getting a teaching job abroad.  The event takes place from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Nipissing cafeteria (room A246 ).

Simon has worked as a reporter and editor in Canada and South Africa.  He was the Financial Times’ Canada correspondent for 17 years, also covering the North American auto industry.  He was joint managing editor of Canada’s Financial Post from 1987 to 1990, and deputy editor of Business Day in Johannesburg from 1997 to 2001.

He has also been a regular correspondent for The New York Times, The Economist and US News & World Report, among others.  Simon now works as a freelance writer, media consultant and plain-language instructor in Toronto.
