Artist Collective speaking at Nipissing

Nipissing’s department of Fine and Performing Arts and the WKP Kennedy Gallery are pleased to present an artist talk by Z'otz* Collective.

Z'otz* Collective will be coming to Nipissing University on Thursday, November 20, from 1 – 2:30 p.m. in room M106 (Monastery Hall) to speak about their art practice, 10 years of collaborating as a collective, and their upcoming exhibition What the Plants Heard at the WKP Kennedy Gallery.

Nahúm Flores, Erik Jerezano, and Ilyana Martínez are the members of this Toronto-based artist collective. Formed in 2004, the group meets weekly to collaborate on drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and site–specific drawing installations. Their quirky and often outrageous images explore ideas of transition, displacement, containment and evolution. Their stories depict totemic mystical creatures and hybrid beasts that portray visual synonyms to tell complex and surrealistic tales.

Their exhibition, What the Plants Heard, will be featured at the WKP Kennedy Gallery from
November 21 to December 24. The opening reception will be held on November 21, from 7 to 9:30 pm
