Yung adds OUA experience with Pearson

Lakers men’s volleyball coach Eric Yung has added some CIS experience with the addition of Dan Pearson who is enrolling in the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University."Nipissing offers a world class Bachelor of Education program, and it provides the small teaching ratios and community-like atmosphere that is very appealing.” said Pearson. “Nipissing comes highly recommended from friends and colleagues already established within their respected school boards. One of the most comforting traits about Nipissing is the smaller student body and campus, which translates into a much stronger sense of community.”
Pearson, a 5’11” Libero/Left Side, played two seasons as an outside hitter with the York Lions, making the team as a walk-on. Pearson was also the captain of his Keswick High School team and has played three seasons on the OVA beach tour.
“In terms of volleyball, Nipissing is a great fit. The team is taking a big step in its progression towards excellence and I feel I have much to offer the team with the transition to the OUA,” added Pearson. “I cannot wait to start the next chapter of my life as a Laker.”
"Dan brings much needed CIS experience to our program,” said Yung. “With a strong core of young recruits joining our program, Dan will certainly help with the program's transition, and the transition of younger athletes.”
“During his recent visit, I got to know Dan a little better and see that he is a highly motivated student-athlete. That, combined with his desire to educate and mentor younger student-athletes, will make him a tremendous asset, both on and off the court,” added Yung.
The Lakers OUA schedule is now complete and the Lakers will begin OUA play at home against the Waterloo Warriors October 18 at 8 p.m. followed by the Guelph Gryphons the following evening at the same time.
