O’Donnell, Spence named OUA All-Stars

Nipissing Lakers men’s hockey players Dan Spence and Connor O’Donnell have been named Ontario University Athletics All-Stars as the OUA named its East division major award winners and All-Stars last week. Spence was also named Top Goaltender.Spence, a six-foot-one-inch goaltender from Langley, B.C., becomes the first Lakers goaltender to take home the coveted top goaltender award in the OUA East division after he posted a .915 save percentage and 2.93 goals against average en route to 13 wins. Spence helped the Lakers to a sixth place finish in the OUA East, their fourth consecutive playoff appearance and a first-round playoff victory of the defending CIS champion McGill Redmen. Spence was also named a second team all-star.
O’Donnell, a six-foot forward from Hamilton, ON, was named a second team All-Star. He posted 34 points this season to pace the Lakers. The third-year student-athlete recorded his second straight 30-plus point season in helping Nipissing to their sixth place finish in the OUA East. The award is the first for O’Donnell.
