Nipissing women’s volleyball welcomes Hammerton

Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball coach Marc LaRochelle is pleased to announce the addition of Tracy Hammerton to the women’s volleyball program as the team begins the transition to Ontario University Athletics (OUA) play in 2013.“Tracy has been on my radar for the past two years and I am extremely happy she has decided to make Nipissing her home for the next four years,” said LaRochelle. “She is extremely athletic, versatile and will make an immediate impact on our program.”
The 5’10” left side from Beachville, Ontario, also played middle during her club season, demonstrating her athleticism and versatility on the court.
In 2012-13, Hammerton played club volleyball for the powerhouse Forrest City Volleyball Club in which the team collected numerous OVA tournament medals highlighted by an OVA provincial silver medal while finishing fifth at the 2013 Canadian Open in Edmonton. Hammerton received the 18U Award of Merit as well as the Award of Excellence for 13U, 14U, 15U and 16U when she captained her Woodstock Warriors Volleyball Club Team.
Nipissing is a small school where students are able to have one-on-one time with professors, making it a great learning environment,” said Hammerton. “Nipissing’s Athletics are also great, especially now that the volleyball teams have moved to the OUA.”
The Lakers OUA schedule is now complete and the Lakers will begin OUA play at home against the Waterloo Warriors October 18 at 6 p.m. followed by the Guelph Gryphons the following evening at the same time.
