Anticipation and excitement are running high for this series.  The last time the Lakers faced McGill, just over one week ago, the Lakers won in a dramatic shootout finish that stretched to 16 different shooters.  By all accounts it was one of the best games witnessed on Memorial Gardens ice in years.  Back on November 24, McGill defeated the Lakers 4-3 on a late third-period goal.
“There’s no question that McGill is a formidable opponent, but we know if we play the way we are capable of, we can beat them, said Lakers head coach, Mike McParland. “Every time we played them this year, it was a close, hard-fought battle.  We know what to expect from them, they’re fast and skilled and they capitalize on mistakes.  We’re going to have to play smart, try to limit their chances and get some traffic in front of the net. We are going into this series with confidence that we can get the job done.”
The Lakers finished the regular season in sixth place with a 14-12-2 record.  McGill finished in third place with a 17-7-4 record.
