Nipissing University is offering a culinary trip around the world this Saturday, February 9, at the annual International Food Festival.Running fromnoon – 2 p.m. at the Wall (100 College Drive), the festival features a sampling of dishes from all over the world, as well as a variety of cross-cultural entertainment and a silent auction, all while raising funds to help refugee students attend university.

Here is your chance to enjoy traditional Morrocan Tajine, Semovita and Egusi from Nigeria, spicy Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Fried Plantains from Ghanna, savory Indian Biryani, Greek Spanakopita, and Australian Pavlova, as well as food from Canada, Mexico, Finland, Italy and Sweden!  There will be 36 separate dishes available for sampling.

Volunteers will be serving up international culinary creations while supplies last, so be sure to arrive early to avoid disappointment and hunger.  Tickets cost $10 for eight food samples and are available at the door.  All proceeds support Nipissing’s World University Service Committee (WUSC) Student Refugee Sponsorship Program.

The International Food Fesival is an annual fundraising event for the WUSC Student Refugee Sponsorship Program.  To date, this program has enabled three refugee students to obtain an education at Nipissing University.  With the monies raised at the Food Festival, Nipissing is able to continue toprovide refugee students with opportunities for post-secondary education.
