Eddie Farewell Fundraiser a big success

The 6th annual Eddie Farewell Charity Fundraiser Social raised $1000 for Nipissing’s Men's and Women’s Lakers hockey teams as well as $500 for the Near North District School Board’s anti-bullying campaign.This year, more than 300 Nipissing students, friends and faculty members celebrated the soon to graduate class of 2013. Each year, money raised from this event is designated towards some local need. Since its inception, the Eddie Farewell Charity Fundraiser has raised close to $11,500 for a variety of local charities and causes.
Rob Graham, professor in the Schulich School of Education and drummer in local classic rock cover band MLC, organized the event, which featured the monster riffs and rock-steady rhythms of MLC.
“I’m really pleased with the success of this event and we’ve been able to help a lot of organizations,” he notes. “Originally, the Eddie Farewell Charity Fundraiser was conceived as a way to model the passion and extra-curricular interests that our students need to bring to their work in the teaching profession.?
