Dr. Chen organizing conference in China

Dr. Lanyan Chen, of Nipissing University’s School of Social Development and Family Studies, is organizing a conference on Gender Equality in Policy and Practice: Experiences from Canada and China taking place in Beijing on June 17-18, 2013.Dr. Chen is organizing the conference in conjunction with the China Women’s University, which will host the conference. It is the only university in China that offers a Bachelors degree in Women’s/Gender Studies.
Joining Dr. Chen at this conference are Nipissing colleagues, Dr. Manuel Litalien, Dr. Sal Renshaw and Prof. Renee Andrea Valiquette from Gender Equality and Social Justice.
Dr. Renshaw and Professor Valiquette will be presenting on Gender Equality and Social Justice as a model for ethical, interdisciplinary curriculum. Dr. Litalien will be presenting on the introduction of Community Service Learning at Nipissing and International Exchange. Dr. Chen will be presenting on the use of feminist practice of citizenship for thinking policies to promote Social Welfare and Social Development.
Following the symposium in Beijing, the delegation will also be hosted by the Centre for Canadian Studies at the Tianjin Normal University.
