Pink is in for Lakers hockey this Friday night

For the fourth time in as many years, pink is in for the Nipissing Lakers Men’s Hockey team. The team will be donning bright pink jerseys in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure in their first home game of the pre-season versus the UOIT Ridgebacks, Friday, September 14, at Memorial Gardens at 7p.m.

With an average of more than 3,000 fans in attendance each year, the pink game has become a highlight of the pre-season.

This game should be a good one, as players will be battling for a spot of the final roster, hoping to make the most out of every shift.

“We’ll be giving everyone a good look, including our veterans,” said head coach, Mike McParland. “As our program is evolving, we’re at the point where we need to infuse the team with some new guys every year to maintain our position.  Everyone on the team knows they need to keep battling for a spot.”

UOIT will be looking to start off strong this season after finishing in ninth place in the OUA West division.

On Saturday night, the Lakers will be taking on the Guelph Gryphons in more pre-season action. Game time is 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
