New collaboration brings Peace and Conflict Resolution training to Nipissing Muskoka

The Canadian International Institute of Applied Negotiation (CIIAN) and Nipissing University (NU) are pleased to announce a new partnership in the field of skill development. This new partnership enables CIIAN to provide certificate training in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to people from government, colleges and universities, civil society, and the private sector in Eastern and Northern Ontario, and the GTA. Those who complete the training will receive certificates jointly issued by CIIAN and NU. Nipissing’s Bracebridge campus, set in the beautiful Muskokas, will be the venue.

“We are very happy to be collaborating with CIIAN to provide top-notch training and skill development in this field,” said Dr. Harley d’Entremont, Vice-President, Academic and Research at Nipissing University.

CIIAN is an internationally recognized organization dedicated to the prevention and resolution of destructive conflict and to building peace at local, national, and international levels. Based in Ottawa, under the leadership of Dr. Ben Hoffman and with over 20 years of experience, CIIAN has gained a solid reputation for delivering top quality negotiation, mediation, and peacebuilding training to numerous clients throughout the world. CIIAN offers Certificates of Completion for individual courses as well as a Certificate in ADR and an Advanced Certificate in ADR.

CIIAN’s training is designed for people who want to be better equipped to resolve disputes in the family, the workplace and in communities. Professionals such as Human Resource managers, team leaders, social workers, psychologist and lawyers who want to become ADR practitioners are trained to assist parties to resolve their conflicts and negotiate agreements. They provide the support necessary to enable individuals and groups to live constructively with their differences. The first courses will be offered in October, 2012.
