McParland lends expertise

The head coach of the Nipissing University Lakers hockey team, Mike McParland, recently lent his expertise to the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), held at Nipissing University last week.McParland lectured on offensive team play and offensive individual play, subjects he has some expertise in, given that the Lakers finished last season with 120 goals for, the second highest total in the OUA; and that the team had three players finish in the top 20 in league scoring.
The NCCP attracts area coaches who looking to become level two certified.  This was the first-ever Development 2 Coaching Clinic to be held in Northern Ontario.
Other lecturers included Geoff Ward, assistant coach with the Boston Bruins; Mike Foligno, Chicago Wolves assistant coach and former NHLer; and Drew Bannister, assistant coach with the Owen Sound Attack and former NHLer.
