The Nipissing University Lakers Soccer team is pleased to announce Jean-Michel Paulin has recently enrolled in the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education for the fall of 2012, and has joined the team.
Paulin, a 5’10” versatile player, was a member of the 2011 Ottawa Fury Semi-Professional Premier Developmental League Reserves and was invited to a professional showcase in Shropshire, England during the summer.

He transferred from the University of Ottawa where he has played one year with Ottawa’s Club team and also a season with La Cite Collegiale. Paulin attended Ecole Secondaire Catholique Algonquin where he helped the Barons to the OFSAA quarter-finals in 2010.

Lakers head coach Carlo DeVuono is making many changes to the program and adding Paulin to the roster is a great start.

“We have known about Jean-Michel for quite a while now,” said DeVuono “We have had the privilege of refereeing him throughout  his soccer career, from minor soccer all the way to high school, and he has the quality and mindset that we are looking for here at Nipissing.”

‘‘I really like the way the program is developing. The players work really hard and are committed to having a good season and changing the status of this team in the OUA,’’ said Paulin. ‘‘I have played striker and midfield as well as defender, and have a lot of high level training in England and as a member of the regional team.  I would like to bring those skills to this team.

All the guys on the team are close, the coaching staff is very organized and everyone opened up quickly; that made my decision to join an easy one. I am very excited to start the season as we are already training and preparing mentality and physically.’’

The Lakers will be hosting a pre-season soccer camp for athletes aged 8-16. The camp will take place for three weekends at Nipissing University (May 5/6, May 19/20 and May 26/27). The camp will run from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The cost of the camp is $50 per weekend, or $90 for two weekends, or $120 for all three weekends. Athletes are asked to bring indoor and outdoor shoes and a lunch.
