Lakers hockey welcomes Vern Cooper

The Nipissing Lakers hockey team is pleased to announce that Vern Cooper will be attending Nipissing University beginning this September.Cooper, a five-foot, nine-inch, 202-pound left wing/centre, played five years of Major Jr. A hockey with the Plymouth Whalers and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. In the 2009-10 season with the Greyhounds, he amassed 65 points in 61 games (25 goals and 40 assists); the next year he totaled 60 points in 56 games (25 goals and 35 assists).
"I'm very excited to begin my post-secondary education at Nipissing and joining the Lakers hockey team for this coming season. My goal is to be successful off the ice as well as on the ice,” said Cooper. “I am looking to help the team get to the next level, which is to challenge for a championship.”
