Lakers hockey welcomes MacKenzie Keirstead

The Nipissing Lakers hockey team is pleased to announce that MacKenzie Keirstead has committed to attending Nipissing University this September.Keirstead, a five-foot, eleven-inch, 180-pound defenceman from St. John, New Brunswick, played last season with the Campbelton Tigers in the Maritime Junior Hockey League. He was the third highest scoring defenceman, racking up 37 points in 48 games (four goals and 33 assists).
Keirstead is studying for a Biology degree in the Orientation to Teaching program at Nipissing.
"I'm excited to be coming to Nipissing for my post-secondary education and I’m looking forward to joining the Lakers hockey team for this coming season,” said Keirstead. “Nipissing has a great biology department and one of the best education programs in the country. Hopefully I can help the team achieve its goals on the ice, while I can work to achieve my educational goals off the ice.”
