Byron Katapaytuk commits to Nipissing

Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team is pleased to announce that Byron Katapaytuk has committed to attend Nipissing University in the fall and play for the Lakers.Byron has just concluded a very successful season with the Fort Frances Lakers in the Superior International Jr. league, where he was the league’s MVP, as well as the leading scorer with 32 goals and 53 assists in 52 games.
Byron was also the league’s finalist for the RBC-CJHL Player of the Year.
The 6'3" centre from Moose Factory is looking forward to moving to North Bay to attend Nipissing’s Business program. "I am looking forward to involving myself in all aspects of the community,” says Byron, "and to being a model student and athlete."
Coach McParland is extremely pleased to have the commitment from Byron as many NCAA D3 schools were after his commitment. Ultimately, Byron felt Nipissing University was the best fit for him and his future, and the Nipissing Lakers men’s hockey team couldn’t agree more.
