Urquhart reading at Nipissing

The Harris Learning Library is very pleased to be hosting the inaugural Blue Sky Reads Canadian event, featuring internationally acclaimed author Jane Urquhart reading from her latest book, Sanctuary Line.The event takes place on tonight at 6 p.m. in the Nipissing Theatre (F213).Urquhart received an honorary doctor of letters from Nipissing University in 2006. She was born in Little Longlac, in northern Ontario and grew up in Cramahe Township, Northumberland County. Urquhart’s fiction has been published in over a dozen countries, translated into numerous foreign languages and has earned awards and honours including the Governor General’s Award for Fiction, the Marian Engle Prize, the Trillium Award, The Harbourfront International Festival Prize, and France’s prestigious Le Prix de Meilleur Livre Étranger. Her books have also been short-listed and long-listed for a number of international prizes including the Scotiabank Giller Prize, Orange Prize, The International Dublin IMPAC literacy award and the Man Booker Prize.  

Sanctuary Line, published in 2010, was nominated for the prestigious Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Following the reading, Urquhart will answer questions from the audience and sign copies of her books.
