Below are answers to frequently asked questions in the Office of the Registrar.

Undergraduate

How do I arrange for a tour?

Registrations are open for in-person campus tours! Tours are available Monday to Friday at 1:00 PM (EST) with the exception of holidays.

 

How do I login to My Nipissing to view the status of my application?

Once we receive your application, an acknowledgement letter is sent confirming your application has been received that includes login credentials to track your documents and view the status of your application. Click here for instructions to check application status.

When will I receive an admission decision?

Applicants that apply to a limited program will receive an admission decision in May.  Admission decisions for open programs are released within two weeks of review of a complete file.

How do I accept my offer of admission?

Accept your Offer of Admission through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) website and follow the instructions printed on your offer.  To guarantee a spot in any limited enrolment program you need to accept your offer by the expiry date.

I have received an offer. How to I apply to Residence?

Residence information and application instructions are included in the offer of admission package.  Please make sure you apply by deadline.

When will I receive my student email account?

You will receive your Nipissing email account in June after you have accepted your offer.  We will notify you by email to the email account you indicated on your application to let you know that your Nipissing account is activated.  From that point on, your Nipissing email account will be the only email account we will use to communicate with you.  Make sure you check your email regularly to ensure you don't miss out on any important and urgent communication.  If you have any problems receiving emails or accessing your Nipissing email account, please contact the Technology Services Department at techsrv@nipissingu.ca.

What is a Conditional offer?

If you currently have courses in progress or have not graduated (if applicable), your offer
will be conditional upon successfully completing your courses and/or receiving your
diploma/degree.  Please refer to your offer package for more information.

What happens if I don't meet the conditions of my offer of admission?

If you do not have the prerequisite courses or the final admission average for the program you have been offered, we may change your offer of admission to an alternative program for which you are eligible or place you on probation or a reduced course load.  We will only rescind an offer if you are not eligible for admission once all courses are completed.

Why did I receive an Alternative Offer?

If you do not meet the admission requirements for the program you have applied for we will offer you admission to a program for which you are eligible for.

What is available for Scholarships, Bursaries, Awards and Other Financial Assistance?

When do I register for classes?

In June, or after you accept your offer (for those who accept an offer after June), we will email you detailed information regarding registration.  If you are receiving transfer credits, you may need to wait until your transfer credits are processed before registering for courses.  You are encouraged to contact an Academic Advisor after your transfer credits have been processed to help you select your courses.

How many transfer credits will I receive?

Transfer credits will vary depending on your education background, overall average and general, transfer pathways and and special advanced standing policies.  Further information is available at the Future Mature/Transfer Students website.

I have received transfer credit. How do I know what courses I should register in?

The Academic Advising Department can assist you with your course selection to ensure you are taking the correct courses in the right order for successful degree completion plan.  Please visit their website at to connect with an advisor.

How do I defer my offer to the following year?

Applicants admitted to an undergraduate degree or post-baccalaureate diploma program who are unable to begin their studies for the term admitted to may submit a request for a deferral.  For further information and to request a deferral, please follow this link.

How do I submit an Academic Petition?

Academic Petitions can be submitted through the online Academic Petition form, if you are a Nipissing University student. Complete information on how to submit your petition request can be found on the Academic Petitions website.

Bachelor of Education

How do I accept my Offer of Admission to the Bachelor of Education program?

Accept your Offer of Admission through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) website.  Your acceptance and your Practicum Registration form must be received by deadline that is indicated in your offer package.

What does it mean if I have a conditional offer of admission?

If you currently have required courses in progress, or have not graduated, your offer will be conditional upon successfully completing your courses and/or degree.  We will require a final transcript by June 30 showing all courses are completed and/or your degree has been awarded.

What if I will not graduate in June?

If you will not be completing your required courses by the end of April to graduate in June, you must contact us in writing before the transcript deadline of June 30 of your degree completion plan.  Please contact the Admissions Office at admissions@nipissingu.ca.

I have received an offer of admission to a different division than I applied to. Is this correct?

Yes.  If you were not eligible for admission to the division and/or teaching subject you applied to, but you were eligible for another division for teaching subject, then we made you an alternative offer to that program.

Where can I find the Practicum Registration form and the Health & Safety and Concussion Training Procedures?

When do I find out about registering for my courses, orientation week, textbooks, etc?

All students entering the Consecutive Bachelor of Education program will be registered in all of their required courses by the Office of the Registrar.  An email will be sent to you in early August including information about your timetable, parking, tuition fees, textbooks, student accessibility services, financial aid, scholarships, bursaries and awards, meal plans, athletic and student union.

Students entering Year 2 will be notified in August by email when they may register for their fall and winter electives.
