Senior Development Officer
Full-Time Administration – 16-month contract
Reporting to the Manager, Alumni & Advancement, the Senior Development Officer plays a critical role on the University Advancement team in the achievement of Nipissing University’s current and future financial viability. The Senior Development Officer will identify, cultivate, and solicit potential donors and sustain relationships with internal/external partners including individuals, corporations, foundations, and community partners.
Major responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategies to ensure successful identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects for major gifts, sponsorships, scholarships, and awards. The Senior Development Officer will orchestrate the participation of influential representatives such as the President, Board of Governors, senior executives in the stewardship of major gifts. The Senior Development Officer will play an active role in planning and preparing for campaigns and appeals. The Senior Development Officer will develop strategies to promote university goals and priorities while working in collaboration with External Relations team members and other university departments.
The successful candidate will have a University degree, preferably in Business or Management, and five years of relevant work experience within the charitable, not-for-profit sector in a development function, preferably in a major gift, sponsorships, or planned giving capacity. Specific experience in this role in higher education would be viewed as an additional asset.
