JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Residence Life Programming Student Assistant supports the residential living experience of students aiding in the planning, implementation and facilitation of residence life events, promotions and programming. The Residence Life Programming Student Assistant works with a number of professional staff, on a variety of portfolios, with emphasis on orientation program planning and preparation of processes and resources for the new academic term.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
The Residence Life Programming Student Assistant will support the Residence Life team by assisting with:
- Residence programming and community development initiatives (creation and marketing/promotion of academic, educational, health and safety, orientation and community programs)
- Research of new, innovative and best practice programming materials/resources for the Residence Life department
- Recruitment of and training for residence tour guide programs (including Fall and March Open House)
- Supporting residence programming through attendance and assisting at large scale events
- General Residence Programming Office duties (e.g., answer in person, email, and telephone inquiries, word processing, filing)
- Creation of assessment and reporting of residence programming
- Other tasks as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to attend the Residence Life Peer Educator Selection Process on February 1st, 2025.
- Familiarity with standard computer software and, organizational proficiency.
- Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
- Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Nipissing University programs, initiatives, and services that promote student academic and personal success.
