POSITION TITLE: Off Campus Living Student Assistant

EMPLOYMENT DATES: September 2025 – April 2026
HOURS OF WORK: 6-10 hrs/week
RATE OF PAY: $17.20/hour + Vacation pay as determined by HR policy
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Off-Campus Living (OCL), housed in the Office of Student Development and Services, is a program that seeks to offer students assistance in navigating living off campus. The student assistant, working with their supervisor, will maintain and promote the resources related to students living off campus in North Bay and being a tenant in Ontario to Nipissing students. They will develop and strengthen relationships with community partners and students from both institutions, develop and present educational resources and use different formats to promote safety, wellbeing and tenant rights.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
The Off-Campus Living Assistant will assist with the following:
- Maintain and promote the Off-Campus Living website and related educational resources
- Liaise with Places4Students, local property listing site, to encourage use by landlords and post-secondary tenants
- Assist landlords and students with ongoing questions and refer/connect to resources
- Strengthen student neighbourhood-based communities and promote campus engagement
- Work to enhance general safety awareness and education programs for off-campus students
- Promote student support and service options available to all students
- Utilize online resources and social media to promote Off-Campus Living
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to attend the Residence Life Peer Educator Selection Process on February 1st, 2025.
- Must apply and may be required to demonstrate approval for the NUWORK Program to maintain position
- Must be a student in good standing (maintaining minimum 65% cumulative GPA)
- Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
- Excellent level of organizational proficiency, initiative taking, and creativity
- Familiarity with standard computer software and social media platforms
- Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
- First-hand experience and knowledge of off-campus student issues an asset
- Knowledge of Nipissing University services that promote student academic and personal success and growth is an asset
