The Mercury and Ecohydrology Research Laboratory (MERL) at Nipissing University is seeking a Trace Metal Analytical Intern for a one-year contract. The successful candidate will play a leading role in MERL under the supervision of Dr. McCarter. They will contribute to Dr. McCarter’s Canada Research Chair and related research, focusing on contaminant transport, mercury biogeochemistry, and restoration of contaminated peatlands in both laboratory and field settings. The role is a mix of laboratory and field research work.

The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in geography, chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, earth sciences, engineering, or related discipline. Possible fields of study could include, but are not limited to geochemistry, biogeochemistry, hydrochemistry, hydrology, ecological restoration. An MSc or equivalent would be considered an asset.

The internship is a 1-year contract with an hourly rate that could range from $19.00-$23.00 (including vacation pay).  Please submit your letter of application and resume by 4:00 p.m., October 20, 2024, via email to careers@nipissingu.ca.
