Data Collections and Archival Specialist Coordinator

Job Description:
The Data Collections and Archival Specialist will ensure the preventative conservation of original records, many with historical significance. They will enhance accessibility to these records across the organization and within the community where appropriate by creating online catalogues and storage systems, and will be responsible for the creation of an online digital gallery consisting of high-quality images of each permanent collection piece.
Under the supervision of the Marketing Manager and Gallery Curator, the following activities will take place during the length of the project:
- Digitizing and cataloguing of historic documents, photos, and artifacts
- Artwork photography of the permanent collection
- File organization involving tasks such as basic image enhancements, organizing archived files, and creating internal and external catalogues for easy access
- Development of online content using archived files and images, including an online gallery for the permanent collection towards online engagement
- Interviews with community partners to gather first-hand accounts to supplement archived materials towards community engagement
- Research and development of policies for loaning permanent collection pieces, and initiating discussions with local businesses for loaned artwork
- Curate an exhibit featuring pieces from the permanent collection
Qualifications:
University or college graduate who has graduated within the last three years with a degree, diploma or certificate from an accredited college or university, legally entitled to work in Canada. Applicants who have previously participated in any federal or provincial internship program for greater than 6 months are not eligible. Strong communication skills and an autonomous work ethic is a must. A background in arts management, office administration, museum studies or marketing is preferred and familiarity working with scanners and digital platforms will be considered an asset.
Salary: $40,000 per annum
