Nipissing University invites applications for part-time course instructors for Spring/Summer 2025 (25SS) positions to teach in the Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP), the Teacher of Indigenous Language as a Second Language (TILSL) program, and the Indigenous Classroom Assistant Diploma Program (ICADP). These positions will be offered in hybrid and in-person formats in North Bay, Ontario.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Education or closely related field
  • A Bachelor of Education and master’s degree
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience as evidenced by a teaching philosophy, strong teaching evaluations, and/or other relevant achievements related to teaching
  • Certification as a registered teacher with the appropriate licensing authority (e.g. Ontario College of Teachers)
  • Indigenous knowledge is valued and considered an asset in this role.
  • We strongly encourage applications, which may include self-identification in a covering letter from Indigenous peoples who can contribute diverse perspectives and insights.

Duties:

  • Responsible for all instruction and evaluation for the portion of the course to which they are assigned
  • Will be available to meet with students outside of the official classroom time
  • Complete mandatory training requirements, review and follow Nipissing University's policies and procedures

    • Location: Hybrid (6 hours of online instruction from May 5 – July 6, followed by 30 hours of on-campus instruction from July 7 – August 8)
    • Course Hours: 36 hours
       
  2. EDUC 4767 – Science and Technology for the Primary/Junior Divisions

    • Location: North Bay (Approx. 7 hours per week for 5 weeks)

  3. EDUC 4947 – Understanding Indigenous Pedagogies
