Job Description: 

  • Enforcing institution rules and regulations and ensuring order
  • Supervising the activities of inmates and performing regular patrols
  • Recording all inmate’s activities to ensure safety and security
  • Escorting inmates to visitations, programs, medical facilities, court, showering and other locations in a secure and timely manner
  • Assisting Correctional Officers and other coworkers with the management of inmates
  • Conducting regular searches in inmate cells, showers, and recreation areas to find unauthorized items
  • Responding quickly to de-escalate confrontational situations

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma (OSSD) or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • If educated outside of North America, require equivalency assessment
  • Oral French skills at the “Advanced Minus” level for bilingual positions only
  • Obtain certification in Emergency First Aid, Cardiopulmonary HeartSaver (CPR) Level C and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, afternoons and nights, including weekends and statutory holidays
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada at offer stage
