Correctional Officer

Job Description:
- Enforcing institution rules and regulations and ensuring order
- Supervising the activities of inmates and performing regular patrols
- Recording all inmate’s activities to ensure safety and security
- Escorting inmates to visitations, programs, medical facilities, court, showering and other locations in a secure and timely manner
- Assisting Correctional Officers and other coworkers with the management of inmates
- Conducting regular searches in inmate cells, showers, and recreation areas to find unauthorized items
- Responding quickly to de-escalate confrontational situations
Required Qualifications:
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma (OSSD) or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- If educated outside of North America, require equivalency assessment
- Oral French skills at the “Advanced Minus” level for bilingual positions only
- Obtain certification in Emergency First Aid, Cardiopulmonary HeartSaver (CPR) Level C and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, afternoons and nights, including weekends and statutory holidays
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada at offer stage
