POSITION TITLE: Corporate Event Student Assistant

EMPLOYMENT DATES: April 28th 2025 to Aug. 22nd 2025
HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $17.20 per hour + Vacation as determined by HR policy

JOB DESCRIPTION: (Provide a brief description of the job)
The student will be working directly with the Corporate Event Coordinator, assisting with executing events, including creating & posting directional signs, maintaining Corporate Events resources, setting up A/V equipment, corresponding and interacting with clients, answering questions & troubleshooting problems as they arise, checking on catering, and interacting with other departments on campus. They will assist with room setups and preparing meeting space for incoming corporate special events. Additionally, the Corporate Events Assistant will be supporting the Lakers Shop retail/on-line sales as needed. They will also be using Microsoft Office, and internet applications. Other duties as assigned.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
This position will assist with the following duties:
- Respond to client communications & inquiries
- Sign out, gather and set up resources and AV for Events (including posting signage)
- Assist in event set-up and tear-downs
- Greet and liaise with clients for site visits or day of event
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise
- Coordinate with internal departments, and check on event itineraries (catering, facilities, etc.)
- Support Lakers Shop online sales as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
- Intermediate Computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Personable, and have a high degree of willingness to serve the public
- A dedication to the University and a job well done
- Excellent level of responsibility, reliability and punctuality
- Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of the University and the City of North Bay and surrounding areas is an asset
