HOURS OF WORK:                 Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

RATE OF PAY:                         $25.00/hour + Vacation as determined by HR policy

Job Description:

Extended Learning is seeking professionals interested in developing and supervising Extended Learning’s Ready, Set, Go Youth Camps for community youth ages 4 and 5 years old. Camp Supervisors will be responsible for the development and execution of daily plans and overseeing the successful rollout of their camps with the support from the Office of Extended Learning and key team members at Nipissing University.

Space, liability forms, registration processes, marketing and any necessary supplies will be provided to Camp Supervisors for safe and successful implementation of their youth camp(s).

The successful candidates will assist Program and Event Assistants (student workers) designated to their camp, will work directly with the Extended Learning Coordinator and report to the Director, Teaching and Learning.

Duties Include:

The Camp Supervisors may be expected to assist with the following duties:

  • Respond in a timely manner to any questions/concerns received by parents/guardians
  • Develop and execute full day plans for their youth camp(s)
  • Provide material lists to the Extended Learning Coordinator for final approval by the Director, Teaching and Learning by required deadlines
  • Responsible for sign in/sign out of all campers
  • Responsible for tracking/submitting incident reports as needed
  • Responsible for differentiated instruction for campers of various ages
  • Ensure all Nipissing University policies and procedures are followed
  • Supervise all Camp Leaders, Program and Event Assistants and/or Volunteers designated to their camp

  • Ability to navigate learning needs of campers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 years experience working with early learners in an educational setting
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check (12 months or newer at the time of camp delivery)
  • Concussion Training
  • Valid First Aid and CPR C certificate

Day Plan must include:

  • Morning activities (e.g., ice breakers)
  • 1 - 2 take away activities/crafts/learning opportunities appropriate for children ages 4/5 years old
  • 2 – 3 games/activities appropriate for children ages 4/5 years old and that could be done inside or outside
  • Explanation on how suggested activities can be modified for different learners and different ages
