Online Course Development and Maintenance Contracts

As part of the University's approach to the development and maintenance of online courses and programs, this section will be updated to indicate all open contracts for services.

Online Course Content Author

The Online Course Content Author encapsulates the requirements for subject matter experts in the creation, conversion or maintenance of a specified course within a specified program. Required subject expertise and experience are identified for each contract based on the needs of the academic unit. The Content Author identified within the proposal must be able to work with a team in the development or maintenance of an online course. The Content Writer must provide the Subject Matter Expertise required as identified within each opportunity, be able to collaborate remotely with the development team (which minimally will include an Instructional Designer and Course Production Technician) to provide identified deliverables, by the milestones agreed to, following the Nipissing Online Course Development Process.

The CTL Team offers dedicated support for instructional design, course production, and multimedia.

Requirements

School of Nursing: The Chronic Illness and Palliative Health Challenges is a 3-credit course that will guide students in the holistic and critical examination of the biological, psychological, social, cultural, and political factors influencing individuals living with chronic, progressive chronic, and palliative health challenges within the Canadian healthcare system.

Requirements:

  • The author must hold a Master's or PhD in Nursing or a related health discipline, with a PhD preferred. Active registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Canada is required, along with clinical expertise relevant to the course.
  • Experience in online course development within higher education, coupled with a strong background in evidence-based practice, research methodologies, and knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system is required.
  • The ability to integrate innovative teaching strategies and culturally competent content is required.

School of Nursing: The Concepts of Mental Health and Addictions is a 3-credit course that requires updates to reflect current practices in mental health, addictions, and concurrent disorders, with an emphasis on prevention, treatment, and culturally responsive frameworks across the lifespan.

Requirements

School of Nursing: Concepts in Reproductive Health and Developmental Growth is a new, 3-credit course that will build on students’ knowledge of theories and concepts applied through the nursing process in caring for child-bearing families and reproductive health throughout the life span. There will be a focus on concepts such as developmental growth, gender-affirming care, sexual health, maternal and perinatal health, contraception and pregnancy prevention, men’s sexual and reproductive health, and reproductive justice.​

Requirements

School of Nursing: The Population Health course is a new course synthesizing public health theory, epidemiology, theories of health promotion, and nursing theory. The course explores population-based strategies of health promotion in Canada, emphasizing diversity. There will be an examination of issues in population health over the lifespan and the impact of current practices, policies, and laws on public and community health. Concepts and topics include health determinants epidemiology of morbidity and mortality; community health, primary health, health promotion, social justice, advocacy, and public policy.

RequirementsNSGD 3336: The Culture and Nursing Practice course requires updates to demonstrate the dynamic nature of culture, in its various forms, and its relationship to client-centred care in nursing practice.  Emphasis is placed on self-reflective practice and examining various approaches to understanding culture and cultural concepts foundational to nursing practice

NSGD 3126: The Indigenous Health and Wellness - This is a new course in which students are immersed in a diverse learning environment to critically examine and reflect on Indigenous wellness and health care and healing practices, as well as Indigenous determinants of health. Students explore health and wellness concepts within historical, social, cultural and political realities.
