Welcome and welcome back to Nipissing University! Orientation events are designed to provide you with information on various aspects of graduate studies at Nipissing. Both new and returning graduate students are welcome to attend any Orientation-related events. 

Graduate Student Orientation Day

Wednesday, August 28, 2024

Please register for the various events taking place on August 28 using our Registration Survey. Students who register will receive meeting info/links via email.

Campus Tour: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the front doors

Meet Evan Gomes at the main entrance of the Education Centre for a tour of our beautiful campus. Stops include the library, cafeteria, graduate student study space, and more.

Information Session: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Hybrid)

Hear from various departments at Nipissing University such as the School of Graduate Studies, Finance, Student Development, Academic and Support Services to learn about the supports and services that are available to you as a graduate student and what to expect throughout your degree. 

Lunch: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Food and beverages will be provided. Please be sure to advise us of any dietary restrictions in the registration survey. Stay tuned for further information regarding location.

Information Session: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Hybrid)

Hear from the Registers Office, Office of Indigenous Initiatives, and Office of International Initiatives, to learn of details regarding class registration and completion, and support services that may be available to you throughout your degree.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Training

Early to Mid September 2024 (TBD) - hybrid

Graduate students who have been assigned a Teaching Assistantship position for the 2024/2025 academic year are required to attend this session. Learn about best practices, professionalism, mentorship and more useful tools to guide you through your role as a Teaching Assistant. More information and registration will soon be available.

Funding Your Graduate Degree Webinar

Friday, September 20th, 2024 at 12:00pm

During this webinar, new and prospective graduate students will learn to navigate the different scholarship and funding opportunities offered both externally and at Nipissing University. Learn about the different deadlines, submission requirements, and tips for applying as you look to fund your graduate degree. More information and registration will soon be available.
