The Thorn Book Grant (2022) offered K-8 North Bay and Parry Sound educators the opportunity to submit a personalized proposal for their classroom with/on behalf of their learners in support of their ongoing work to support literacy learning (up to $500 each). -

Centre for Literacy
The Centre for Literacy is currently chaired by Tara-Lynn Scheffel, Elizabeth Thorn Research Chair, and provides a forum for members of the Schulich School of Education who are interested in collaboratively pursuing language and literacy research, education, and practice with school and community partners. -
Schulich School of Education
Nipissing University's faculty of Education, now housed within the Schulich School of Education, was one of the first teacher education programs to be fully accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) and is one of the most well recognized Education programs in the province. -

NUScience Explorations
NUScience Explorations is a series of science and technology related camps for young children to explore and engage in fun and interactive indoor and outdoor activities. Each summer, week-long camps are held at Nipissing University, exploring different science-based themes. -

Teacher Education Liaison Committee (TELC)
The Ontario Teachers' Federation (OTF) is an umbrella organization comprised of the members of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association (OECTA), the Elementary Teachers' Federation (ETFO), the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federations (OSSTF), and Association des enseignantes franco-ontariens (AEFO). -
