What is Nipissing University doing to assist students during this national housing shortage?
Post-secondary students in cities across the country are struggling to find off-campus housing as a result of an ongoing housing shortage. Nipissing has been actively working with Canadore College, the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) and the Near North Landlords’ Association to encourage community members to consider renting a space in their home to a student.
Residence will be operating at full capacity; should spaces become available, students with known outstanding need will be notified of their opportunity to apply. Students can join the waitlist by following the instructions found here.

You can list your space for rent at: https://www.places4students.com/Landlord/Register. The university is working with Places4Students.com to waive listing fees for landlords.
What are the benefits of renting to a student?
Renting a room in your home offers many benefits including an additional source of income (often backed by parental support) and the opportunity to play a role in supporting students living away from home by connecting them to the local community. Student rentals are also a short-term commitment.

Impact on Academics
If I don’t find housing for September, what happens?
Students are encouraged to consider the Refund/Credit Dates and Deadlines for their courses when making decisions about course changes. Most fall courses can be dropped as late as September 19th without academic or financial penalties.
