Nipissing providing answers for OSAP questions

Heading to university or college and worried about money? Maybe you heard about free tuition but want to know more? Wondering if you qualify for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)? Do you have questions about how changes to OSAP might impact you and your family?
Nipissing University has the answers.

Nipissing is hosting an OSAP Information session for students, parents and supporters on Wednesday, April 18, from 7 – 8 p.m. in the Vittorio Fedeli Business Centre (room F210).  This presentation is open to everyone, no matter what school they are planning to attend for post-secondary studies.  Representatives from Canadore College will also be there to answer any college-specific questions.

Did you know that OSAP is expecting lower contributions from parents/supporters this year?

Are you aware that dependent students whose family income is less than $50,000 may qualify for free tuition?  And that a dependent student in a family of four with a family income of $175,000 may still qualify for grant funding? Did you know that special assistance is available for students with permanent disabilities?

“There can be a lot of stress and confusion for students and families over who qualifies, what is available and how to apply for OSAP and we want to help people navigate through the process,” said Ken McLellan, manager of Financial Aid at Nipissing.  “There have been many changes to OSAP recently. It’s enhanced and more generous for students than ever. We are here to help.”

The information night will:
Explain how OSAP works
Walk participants through some of the sections of the OSAP Application process
Explain how much funding a student might get, when it will be paid, and how it will be paid
Highlight appeal and review options for special considerations.

The OSAP Information Session is free of charge and everyone is welcome.
