About
Dr. Alisher Mansurov teaches finance and accounting courses including financial management, financial accounting, financial derivatives, and investments. His research interests are interdisciplinary in nature that encompass finance, accounting, and data science. Broadly, the main areas of his research lie primarily in financial reporting, capital markets, social media, financial technology (FinTech), machine learning (ML), and natural language processing (NLP). More specifically, his research investigates discourse features in financial disclosures, innovative technological solutions in FinTech, investing in low visibility firms, use of accounting information by social media participants, and applications of ML and NLP in finance and accounting.
Prior to joining Nipissing University, Dr. Mansurov worked in the investment and financial industries, in addition to teaching in both undergraduate and graduate programs at universities in Canada, the United States, and overseas. He successfully led and implemented numerous large-scale research projects in data science and analytics that at his prior industry positions. His practical experiences greatly benefit his research as well as his teaching.
