NU welcomes guidance counsellors and recruiters

Nipissing University is the place to be for student recruitment. The university will welcome 50 specialists, including guidance counsellors from all across Northern Ontario and recruitment professionals from Ontario universities, for a one-day regional dialogue on Tuesday, May 9.

This one-day dialogue will see guidance professionals and university representatives discussing key topics in education that are affecting students as they transition to post-secondary studies.

“Guidance counsellors play a key role in helping students navigate the process of finding the school with the right fit for their post-secondary journey,” said Gemma Victor, manager of student recruitment at Nipissing. “It is vital that counsellors are connected with the university recruitment community and are updated regarding any changes taking place at institutions, so we are happy to help facilitate that dialogue.”

Dialogues are coordinated through the Ontario University Application Centre, on behalf of the recruitment collective, and cover all regions of the province over a two-week period.

Delegates will receive a special presentation on preventing sexual violence on campus from Jennifer Gordon, sexual violence prevention and education coordinator. Nipissing earned first place in Maclean’s 2017 University Rankings issue for the category Steps to Prevent Sexual Violence.
