Donate used books to Books for Brook

It’s time to do some spring cleaning and help foster a love of reading for children by donating previously enjoyed children’s books to Books for Brook.
Following a hugely successful book drive last February 14, the Books for Brook program is again inviting the generous Nipissing University community to make donations of gently used children’s books.  Drop off locations include the Schulich School of Education office and the Nipissing University Student Union office. If you do not have any children’s books, but still wish to contribute, the program will gladly accept monetary donations.

Books for Brook is a volunteer program supporting early literacy within the North Bay community. Promoted, administered and supervised by Nipissing University students in the Schulich School of Education and the Nipissing University Student Union, the program is partnering with theNU Reads Literacy Camp this summer. Campers aged 4-12 will be invited to bring in a book and exchange it for one from the Books for Brook collection.

The program is named in honour of Brook Doseger, a 2016 concurrent education graduate. Brook inspired many during her time as a student at Nipissing and across the globe. A favourite quote of Brook’s was “Oh, The Places You’ll Go”, from the Dr. Seuss classic, reminding us of her passion for literacy, travel and community – a passion that will continue to be cultivated and supported through this initiative.
